I returned to Cala Ferrera, Mallorca, in the early Summer of 1981 with my pal Topo from Bradeley. My first visit had been with my Mother and Dad in 1979.
I was 16 and I think he was 18, and you can imagine what a great time we had abroad on our own for the first time. Sun, Sea, Sand, Wine, Women and Song, were all on the menu.
I wanted to go to catch up with Marie Jose, a girl I had met on my first visit. She was by now married, with her second child on the way. I also got the hots for the Entertainment Manager, Erik. My hormones just before my 17th Birthday really were boiling over.
This record was played endlessly, and it was of course the Spanish version that was most popular. It really brings back memories of that fantastic holiday.
I returned to the resort on two further occasions, the last being in Autumn 1982. I got to help out at the hotel, DJ, water polo referee, crazy golf attendant, bar work, you name it, I would do it. That was until a 40+ German Lady named something I wouldn’t do, especially for money.
On my last visit, Marie Jose, and her family had moved to the mainland at short notice. We lost touch after that, and I’ve not been back since. Maybe one day...
